Jarrod Lim is an exciting young designer who is already receiving a lot of recognition for his innovative and distinctive design work. Apart from garnering several design awards, Jarrod has spent time working at some of the most renowned and exciting design houses in the world.
Most notable is the time spent in Milan, Italy working for the world famous designer, Patricia Urquiola, and a period in London, working for SCP, one of the U.K's leading designer furniture manufacturers.
Jarrod's designs reflect an adventurous yet refined aesthetic that is unique and full of character.
'In my designs I always try to find a single innovation that influences the direction of the concept. I seek to create designs that excite people and at the same time provide simple pleasure in everyday life.'
After graduating from RMIT University in Melbourne Australia, Jarrod has worked on many different projects ranging from furniture and products to a hotel room interior.
Jarrod is giving a talk entitled: Award Winning Furniture Designs on Wednesday 14th March at LT24 at 2-3pm in Temasek Design School. He will then run a 2-day workshop in furniture design, from 14th-15th March 2007. In this workshop, he will discuss, not just processes and methods on how to build quick mock-ups but also creative insights into issues of furniture typologies, furniture as commentaries on themselves and their ‘furnitureness’.
