As part of this year’s MOE Principals’ Forum 38 participants undertook a visit to the School of Design as part of a Learning Journey. For about two hours on 16th May 2007, participants had a chance to appreciate the importance of Interactive and Digital Media in Singapore's development. The School of Design’s role was also to show how TDS can better support pupils who aspire to pursue qualifications in the area of Interactive and Digital Media at tertiary level. This was done through interaction with our schools' expert practitioners and viewing demonstrations on-site. The tour was also facilitated by Student Ambassadors from the Design School.
Of particular interest to the participants was how TDS undertakes Collaborative Learning. Temasek Design School creates an environment to provoke exploration and cross disciplinary solutions. Collaboration among the various diplomas opens up new vistas for the students. Because real life is not neat, distinct and pre-sorted the curriculum pushes students to make connections and find synergies to drive new ideas and concepts. Also of interest was how TDS uses Critique as feedback for improvement, develops Presentation, Observation and Storytelling Skills.
