One gold, five silvers and six bronzes. Not only has Temasek Design School proved its ability to produce leading young design talent at this year’s Crowbar awards, but also its success in cultivating designers with social responsibility.
For this year’s Gold award winner, Esther Goh, won for her interactive campaign to raise awareness for the Singapore Children’s Society.
Esther struck Gold in the Interactive - Corporate and Brand Identity category, and silver in the Design Illustration category.
“I had hoped to win something, but certainly, did not think I would win the Gold award,” said a jubilant Esther.
Her winning work has garnered another victory: the Singapore Children’s Society now engages Esther as a freelance designer for their various fund raising projects.
REALise is Esther’s proposed integrated campaign to raise the profile of the Singapore Children’s Society and to encourage members of the public to continue donating towards the cause of helping children in need. She created an interactive website that heightens the appeal for the Singapore Children’s Society’s work and its fund-raising efforts. Together with that, Esther proposed a new logo for the charity.
“The entire campaign focuses public attention on the plight of children caught in the poverty trap, and who have no where to go for help. The Singapore Children’s Society is able to offer help to children in such situations,” said Esther. “The problem is, awareness for the charity’s work is low, despite the fact that the society has been established since 1952. My campaign aims to change that.”
For Esther, this marks the beginning of an exciting career in web design, a passion she has indulged in since her early secondary school days. For her, the multi-dimensional potential of the web presents ceaseless possibilities, and a never-ending creative journey.
